The St George’s Day Charity Fund will celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2017 and has so far raised in excess of £465,000 for local charities and good causes.

7 for 7 in 7 was dreamt up to raise money and awareness for seven local charities and to add to the total raised by the St George’s Day Charity Fund, in the hope that the £500,000 mark will be passed in 2017.

The plan is to run seven half marathons in seven days starting on Saturday October 22nd and finishing on Friday 28th October. Seven local benefactors have offered up to £2,000 in matching funds to each of the chosen charities. Each charity has been invited to enter runners or walkers to join on their nominated day and to gain sponsorship in order to take advantage of the matching funds on offer. By running all seven half marathons the funds will be divided equally between the seven charities.

Anyone is welcome to run or walk one of the half marathons and to seek sponsorship for one of the chosen charities or for their funds raised to be divided equally across all seven charities.

Team Toybox

I have committed to run all seven of the half marathons in seven days with Nick Kier, the driving force behind this excellent event.

My challenge to the staff and parents of the nursery is to run one half marathon with me for one of the charities.

Toybox Staff

I hope that we can get seven members of staff and / or their partners to represent each of the excellent local charities each day. If you want an extra incentive if you run on a day you are due to work we will give you the time off  as an extra days holiday to support your efforts provided you raise at least £50 for your charity.

Toybox Parents

I know some of you are keen runners and I am sure I can persuade a few of you to actually run on one of the days. However even if you don’t actually run it would be great if you could support one of the charities and the member of staff representing them by helping us raise awareness and funds towards their cause.

What happens next?

As a management team we will arrange to have a display for each charity in the nursery with the name of the member of staff taking responsibility for that charity – even if they actually aren’t running. The member of staff will then firstly get runner from the staff (or partners) to run on the day and then will promote their particular half marathon to parents.

We already have Jackie Townson, Jen Grimshaw and Tom Grimshaw signed up to run we only need a minimum of 4 more!

The Aim

I recognise we have done a number of charity events in the past year but I feel this particular event can really add a dynamic to the parent, staff and nursery bond as well as supporting seven local charities. I challenge our staff, parents and employers to get behind our initiative and to raise at least £500 for each charity.
