Attendance

Attendance

We believe the responsibility for education for the children lies in the partnership between the parents / carers and our Pre-School . Schooling provides a broad, stimulating curriculum in line with legal requirements. As a parent, you are legally required to make sure that your child receives full time education from five years to sixteen years old. In order for each child to have full access to the curriculum, he/she can attend up to 5 funded Pre-School per week (term time only) prior to compulsory school age. This will set a routine and give your child the full advantage to develop his/her learning potential, ultimately setting a firm foundation for their future school and working life.

Good Attendance

The School will set an example by

  • starting sessions on time

  • informing parents of school term dates at least every half term

Illness / Absence

If your child is ill, please contact us on the first day of the illness by phone or by email to make us aware and give some idea of when she / he will be returning to Pre-School. While regular attendance is important for your child's progress, children who are obviously unwell should not be in school. Young children do pick up infections from each other very quickly. For this reason if your child has a 'tummy bug', you must keep them at home for at least 48 hours after their last spout of sickness or diarrhoea. If your child has any illness’s that are contagious please inform us as soon as possible to ensure we can ensure the spread is minimised.

We appreciate that, while your children are young, some of you will choose to take your holidays during term time. If you are planning to do this, please inform the teacher in writing, giving as much notice as possible. It is not possible to change sessions to 'make up' days lost through holidays.

Medical Appointments

Please let us know in advance about dentists or doctor's appointments during School session times and your child will be signed in as present on arrival at the nursery/school.

Medicine

We are happy to give your children prescribed medicines and 'Calpol' when necessary but we do ask that the appropriate form is completed. Please do not bring your children to Pre-School with infectious or contagious diseases. Please ensure your child is fully fit before returning to school. A Calpol medicine form needs to be signed giving us permission to administer paracetemol if your child has a high temperature.
