Welcome to the Reception Class
Reception class at Toybox Great Denham is a great place for your child to begin their journey and prepare them for their first year at school. In reception we offer you child the same support and learning opportunities that they would experience within a school setting, the only difference being that we operate on a lower ratio of children to staff.
Within the Reception class our main aims are to encourage your child to become confident and independent learners, encouraging them to try new activities and develop their skills, including writing and phonics to aid their reading. Every child is viewed as unique, developing at their own pace and therefore children’s learning will be personalised to reflect their needs. We feel it is important at this early stage for children to enjoy and be fully engaged within their learning, which is why we encourage the children to learn through every play experience.
These first years are the most important in a child’s education as it builds the foundations for their enjoyment to learn. Through working in partnership with parents and providing a stimulating, structured choice of activities the children within my room have opportunities to learn skills in all areas of learning and development whilst working their way to achieving their Early Learning Goals, set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum Guidance.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
